Why yes, a junk removal company goes Gangnam Style

Written by Matt Yoder on .

This amazing local ad comes our way from Triad Junk Removal in North Carolina as they found a way to take the biggest viral hit in the world and apply it to taking trash out of people's homes.  From the spinning garbage bags to the god-awful dancing by the happy couple after their garage is clean, everything about this ad is phenomenal.  And as the cherry on top, the creative lyrics are sure to take "Junkman Style" to the top of the trending tunes list in the Piedmont Triad.

Mad Men Live Blog: Season 6, Episode 5 -- "The Flood"

Written by Michael R. Hall on .

9:45pm: It's been a special weekend for me. Saturday, my beautiful bride and I married each other. Today, we further our new marriage through America's best celebration of fidelity: Mad Men (note: my wife came up with that line.)

Don Draper continues to be unfaithful, just as in previous years. In his personal life, Don has used infidelity to kept his spirit alive. At work, however, Don's infidelity has robbed him of SCDP's prized Heinz baked beans account. Is it time for Don's moral crisis? Is this week's title of "The Flood" evocative of a biblically cleansing flood, clearing away all of Don's sins?

Kraft uses a tired tactic to pitch salad dressing

Written by Reva Friedel on .

Kraft's online banner ad for what I can only assume is their Italian dressing is ... interesting. First of all - hot, shirtless dude is not an original way to sell anything. We've been doing this forever. Second of all, when you "click me" you are taken to a site allowing you to send "zestygrams." I guess because the dressing is zesty?

I mean, I get it - 2013 is all about interaction. You want people to remember and interact with your brands online versus just inundating them with traditional ads. But if you're going to do that, your concept should at least make sense.

It's time to embrace a new concept, Kraft. Sex usually sells, but we're not sure it helps push salad dressing off the shelf.

Mel Kiper will help you pick out the perfect Mother's Day gift

Written by David Rogers on .

If you've ever flipped on ESPN anywhere close to the NFL Draft, you're probably pretty familiar with Mel Kiper. The NFL analyst is one of the faces of ESPN's Draft Day coverage, providing in-depth coverage and opinions on all of the prospects set to enter the league.

Kiper's image is now being used in an online ad on ESPN.com where he evidently will help you pick out the perfect Mother's Day gift.

Alleged Hyundai commercial depicts a failed suicide attempt

Written by Reva Friedel on .

Hyundai should be ashamed. A commercial linked to the car manufacturer has leaked on to the Internet and it depicts a failed suicide attempt while promoting their clean emissions engine.

Huffington Post has noted that it's unclear whether Hyundai approved or actually intended to air this ad that apparently came from the advertising agency Innocean. Whether or not it was only meant for European audiences (as noted with the driver's side being on the right side of the car), it is still disturbing that it was created and wound up on YouTube for all to see. Perhaps now would be a good time for Hyundai to put its account into review and get themselves an ad agency that's more sensitive to things like this.

New York Times runs a controversial ad next to Boston bombing coverage

Written by David Rogers on .

The New York Times allowed an online ad depicting a man on the ground with a bloody face to appear next to coverage of the Boston Marathon bombing. The ad appeared next to coverage highlighting the one-week anniversary of the bombing. Not surprisingly, the placement and timing of the ad immediately received complaints.

The ad in question is promoting the show "Rectify", a program which will appear on the Sundance Channel.

Tony Siragusa is pitching adult diapers for men

Written by David Rogers on .

There are times where a commercial does all of the talking for us. This is one of those amazing times. Honestly, what more can we say about Tony Siragusa pitching "shields" and "guards" for men that evidently drip or leak all over their pants?

"Leak a little? Guard your manhood." That's gold.

You can also chalk this one up as one of those commercials that tries way too hard to be manly. We're talking about adult diapers here, more or less. No matter how hard you try, it's not going to come off as a manly topic regardless of how many football players and neon signs you use in your ad. For additional humor, stroll around the Depend site where Tony helps you "reclaim your bathroom" before "gearing up" for to combat leaks.

Charmin and Kmart have a loving exchange through Twitter

Written by David Rogers on .

By now, you've probably seen Kmart's "Ship my pants" commercial that still has the online world buzzing. The ad apparently even caught the attention of other companies, including Charmin. If you follow both Kmart and Charmin on Twitter (can't say we know anyone who does) you might have seen their recent exchange where both companies played off the ship my pants concept.
